Menoth

Another reason why I haven't been doing much with my Night Lords is because I am also playing Privateer Press's brilliant Warmachine. My friend from Hull Dave (http://doublehandedthrow.blogspot.co.uk) introduced me to it several years back after severely beating me in an introduction game (forgot to says thanks for that). Still I did not let it deter me from playing and got into Cryx first and the Protectorate of Menoth afterwards. At the moment I have wood for Menoth am slowly and surely painting them. The painting is slow because I don't think I've found the right way to paint with red as the army's main colour. I've tried several ways and still am not happy. Epic Feora has been painted and stripped on two occasions and still I am not happy with the fucking thing! Here are some of the models I've painted so far being vaguely happy with a couple of them. If you have any criticisms as to what I can do to improve the red please please please tell me as its driving me mad.

I have to say though painting Reznik was a joy because there is so much going on with that model that it was never boring. That and I think there was hardly any armour on him that needed to be painted red. Some of you may also notice that the red armour on the infantry is brighter than the armour on the warjacks and this is because I am still trying to find a better way to paint with red. 

If Huron Blackheart was a Night Lord...

Its been a while since I've added anything. I'm a lazy painter so it takes a while to get things done. That and real life stuff hasn't helped so yeah I apologise to all you diehard fans who have been waiting in anticipation.

For 6th edition Chaos Space Marines Codex there aren't many options for a fluffy list dedicated to a specific legion especially for a Night Lords player like me. Not going to debate about the whole thing because its all been said before on various message boards as people bitch about GW's questionable decisions. Anyway I digress. In order to try and simulate the feel of an army that employs swift terror tactics and ambushes its prey, I decided to take Huron Blackheart as a HQ choice to lead my band of traitors. I haven't done so because he's got some funky equipment and special rules (power claw, power axe, heavy flamer, psyker, etc), that was a plus side. I took him because of what he brings to the army and that is the Warlord trait: Infiltration. I could have D3 units infiltrate and flank my opponent so that I can pick important targets to fuck with. The only downside is that Huron does have to infiltrate special rule and counts as a unit... :/ so I have to hope that I roll at least 3+ on the die in order to get him and a unit to get their sneak on. Anyway I have the model painted and converted to Night Lords standards which was very simple to do, I simply had to replace the head.  Here he is in all his unholy splendour!

I am chuffed about the way the armour came out on him. The only real problem I have noticed is the wings and eyes. I think I will need to highlight them a brighter colour to bring them out a bit as they seem too dark for my liking.

And so it begins...

Right, new to this whole blogging malarky and tend to associate it with sad pathetic lonely people trying to reach out to others. But after giving it some thought (and dispelling the illusion that I do not belong to this category...) decided that it would be good to create a blog to show off the models I've painted and converted.

I've pretty much been wargaming for around 14 years, having started when I went to Games Workshop at the age of 11 years and bought myself a box of Chaos Space Marines to take home and butcher them with a paint brush. Since then I've improved my hobby skills (dramatically) and moved onto other systems/ games which include Warmachine, Firestorm Armada, Malifaux, etc. So expect pictures of models I've put together to be posted up over the next few days.

Also I'll be posting about my games and tournaments I'll be going to, explaining how valiantly I lost against a broken set of rules and how much of a good sportsman I was towards the opponent who beat me :p

So yeah enjoy the pics and don't hesitate to comment on my stuff and criticise as I'm always looking for ways to improve my mad skillz.
